FREEDOM - Freedom
This new self-titled album by the trio Freedom is their first release as a group and it is a beautiful beginning. Formed in April 2010, Freedom features former Florida Boys lead singer Josh Garner, former Dove Brothers and Palmetto State Quartet tenor John Rulapaugh, and Joel Trimble, formerly with Soul'd Out Quartet. The trio uses this album to celebrate the freedom that we have while living for God, both here and hereafter.
"My Retirement Plan" is an interesting song, specially tailored to minister in the world's current economic state. No matter the state of our economy in the here and now, we have a special place waiting for us in Heaven, the ultimate "retirement plan." This is a fun ballad with a crisp, clear message especially appropriate for today. Another Dianne Wilkinson song on this recording is "Come On In," which reflects on another angle of heaven. The doors of heaven are open whenever we get there.
While some of the songs are light and fun, there are also a number of more somber, powerful songs on the album. Several deal with the Cross and how it provides the Christian's salvation and freedom. "If It Wasn't For That Cross" and "Between Two Thieves" deal with this theme, offering slow, forceful messages.
The diversity of songs on this album, from an upbeat "When The Saints Go Marching In" to the sincere rendition of "His Blood Alone," help reflect the range that this trio can perform. The ten songs on this release ensure that Freedom's inaugural release is a compelling album, pointing the way toward a great future in ministry for this up and coming group.
