CATHEDRALS - Icon

The Cathedral Quartet holds an unquestionably special place in the history of Southern Gospel music with their legendary sound and unwavering devotion to the Gospel message. The twelve songs on this CD were originally released between 1995 and the group's retirement in 1999. The original recordings from that time have been put together on this wonderful, iconic collection, bringing these classics back into your home. Listen once again to the signature musical style of George Younce, Glen Payne, Ernie Haase and Scott Fowler, along with the incomparable piano skill of Roger Bennett.

Each song is a favorite, reverberating with the easy control and good-natured warmth that the Cathedrals put into every song they recorded. This collection begins with "This Old House / When The Saints Go Marching In (Medley)," with George Younce performing one of his signature songs. It's a fun song, like "Mexico," but it also carries a deep meaning, as was typical for Cathedrals' songs. The a capella "Wonderful Grace Of Jesus" is a wonderful rendition of this hymn taken from the Cathedrals' "A Farewell Celebration" recording. The soaring "Champion Of Love," taken from the same recording, is an immensely powerful ballad. The final song on this collection CD, "We Shall See Jesus," features Glen Payne and closes the album on a strong note with another meaningful song that exhibits the best that the group had to offer.

These are the Cathedrals as you remember them during the final years of the group before their retirement. Enjoy their professional, beautiful sound as you listen to these original recordings of the Cathedrals, a true Southern Gospel "Icon."
